In a heartwarming celebration of the holiday season, CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) will be providing children in foster care with an unforgettable experience at the ballet on Friday, December 6th. Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, CASA advocates and their CASA children will attend a performance of The Nutcracker at the Grand Theatre.
The event will take on an even more magical touch as CASA’s Executive Director, Christy Keele, is set to grace the stage in the party scene, bringing smiles and excitement to the young audience. For many of these children, it will be their first experience witnessing the power and beauty of live performing arts.
"Sharing the stage as a performer in the Nutcracker’s party scene is a special experience but will make it even more truly magical is knowing that our CASA Advocates and the children we serve are able to watch the performance for the first time from the theatre, thanks to a generous donation," said Christy Keele, Executive Director of CASA of Marathon County. "Seeing their faces light up with wonder and joy is what the holidays are truly about—creating moments of magic and belonging for children who might not otherwise have had this opportunity."
The Nutcracker outing reflects CASA’s mission of not only advocating for the safety and well-
being of children in foster care but also enriching their lives with moments of joy. For the
children, the performance will be a reminder that they are not alone, surrounded by advocates who champion their potential and by a community that believes in them.
This memorable experience underscores the transformative impact of giving—both of time and resources. CASA extends heartfelt gratitude to the donor who made this experience possible and to all who support their work in creating brighter tomorrows for children in need.
